On Saturday evening November 18th a capacity crowd celebrated Covington Ladies Home and the First Annual Ellen Battelle Dietrick Award winner, Michelle Riegler Krumpelman. A successful businesswoman and passionate volunteer, Michelle is a Boone County alum who lives with her husband Andy Krumpelman in Ft. Mitchell.
The “Ellen Award” honors a young woman of our area who lifts up the community with her investment of time, ideas, and passion for others, just as CLH founder Ellen Dietrick made an impact during her time in Covington in the late 19th century.
Michelle spoke of women’s strengths, women’s sacrifices, and women’s needs. She recognized CLH as gem in our midst and challenged guests to get involved with Covington Ladies Home residents.
Gala guests filled the Grand Ballroom, and the Mezzanine was lively with silent auction bidders, with CLH supporters, with friends old and new. Lucky live auction winners took home weekends in Palm Beach and the Biltmore estate, and finally, a trip to Paris!
All gala proceeds help provide personal care for the residents of CLH. For 131 years, Covington Ladies Home has provided a place where every lady matters, regardless of her financial means, a place where each feels valued, a place hundreds of elderly women have called home.
